POLICE are warning people to beware of a computer scam.
Those targeted have received a phone call from someone saying they are from Microsoft Windows Online Support Management Team.
The victims were instructed to download a remote control sharing software called AMMYY.
The caller then said that the computer was sending through error messages and the software should be downloaded to allow the caller to examine the computer system.
Police are appealing for any information on the suspected scam and urge people not to carry out any instructions in order to allow remote access to a computer, or give any personal details.
Anyone receiving a call should put the phone down.
Any scams or suspected scams can be reported at http://www.microsoft.com /protect/fraud/phishing/respond.aspx
We would urge anyone who has had the call and have let them control their computer to turn it off immediately and bring it to us for a virus check and clean up.

Don't buy new, get it repaired!
With the country amidst a major credit crunch and the average person coming out with little or no spare income, getting your current PC repaired is the ideal solution.
A computer is like in some way like a car, it has many pieces to make it work, if one thing breaks on your car you wouldn't go out and buy another one, why do the same with your PC? Again, your car requires an MOT and a service, why not give your computer one?
At the end of the day it is preventative measures that makes things last. Book you PC in and have it serviced and maintained. Keep it in full working order and you will not have to spend out on a new PC again.
